Grey Bruce Owen Sound Home Sales Just Miss Record February Residential sales activity in the geographical area covered by the REALTORS® Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound totaled 188 units in February 2020.  This was a large 38.2% increase from February 2019, and marked the second-best February sales figure on record, just three transactions shy of the 2006 record. COMING SOON: “Markdale Highlands”

Pre-construction sales activity has begun at "Markdale Highlands", the  townhouse development set to be built on Grayview Drive, at the second hole of the Markdale Golf and Curling Club.   Original plans for Phase I called for 84 units to be built but that number has been reduced to 79 townhomes in an effort to allow for larger lot sizes and an increased green space.  Townhouses will range in price from $389,000 to $499,000 and will include a trial membership at Markdale Golf & Curling Club.  Most of the homes will be 2 bedroom "bungalofts" with 2 additional bedrooms on…

Is Cannabis Production Coming To Markdale?

     Matchbox Organics has begun the approval process for the development of a "micro Cannabis cultivation and processing facility" (think of it in terms of what craft breweries are to the beer industry) at 31 Walker Street in Markdale. The location under consideration is beside the Walter Harris Library and was formally used as the laundry and storage facility for Four Seasons Party Rentals. Grey Bruce Owen Sound Home Sales Miss Record January By A Single Sale Residential sales activity in the geographical area covered by the REALTORS® Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound totaled 141 units in January 2020. This was a 23.7% jump from January 2019 and stood just one sale below the record for the month set back in 2007. The average price of homes sold in January 2020 was $419,972, surging 22.4% from January 2019. Markdale One Step Closer To A New School

Great news for Markdale!  The Bluewater District School Board is moving ahead with plans to build a new K-8 school to replace Beavercrest Community School now that an "Approval to Proceed" has been granted by the Ministry of Education.   A total of $8.5 million in funding has been approved to build a new school for roughly 236 students in grades Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8 and to create 2 child care spaces and 2 EarlyON spaces, all to be housed at the same site.  Next steps in the process include acquiring additional property adjacent to the existing school grounds so…
