Celebrating The Season In a Covid-Friendly Way

From The Blog

1 December 2020

There are some great Christmas community initiatives coming up soon in Grey!

We may not be celebrating the season the way we’re used to but we can still enjoy the sights and sounds while responsibly keeping Covid restrictions in mind.

Dundalk Fire Department’s Letters to the North Pole

Get your letters to Santa, the reindeer and the elves ready! On December 5th the Dundalk Fire Fighters will be picking up your letters from across Southgate to get them delivered to the North Pole.

Stop by the locations listed in the image on Dec 5th at the appointed time and give your letters to the Fire Fighters so they can make sure they get delivered to the North Pole on time!

Letters should be addressed to:  The North Pole, Canada, H0H 0H0

Owen Sound Sun Times’ Santa Times Special Edition

If December 5th is too early for you or if your child’s letter to Santa was especially touching this year and you or your child would like to share it, you have another option.  Letters to Santa can be submitted for printing in the Owen Sound Sun Times’ Santa Times Special Edition.  Letters will be published in the December 12th paper.

Email your letters to csims@postmedia.com

The deadline for submission is Monday November 30th, 2020.

It’s a Feversham Christmas Wonderland!

On Saturday December 12th, why not bundle up and enjoy a stroll through town to take in the holiday lights?

Homes throughout town will be encouraged to get their decorations up and make sure everything is turned on by 5pm on Dec 12th so that Feversham is a hub for Christmas cheer?  If you still have yours, letters to Santa can be dropped off at the mailbox in the park.  Need a little snack?  Stop by the General Store for a special treat between 5:30-6:00pm.

Please don’t forget to practice safe social distancing and try to keep to your household bubbles.

All homes and businesses around the village are eligible to enter to win a prize for “Best Decorations” and all properties inthe running will be visible on facebook so that locals can vote for their favourites.  Visit the facebook group “Feversham’s Christmas Wonderland” for more details and to vote.

Thanks to every local business and citizen who contributed to this fun-filled community event!

Owen Sound Festival of Northern Lights

Perennial favourite the Festival of Northern Lights is back again to help light up the 2020 holiday season!  Music and lights will be in full force from November 21st through January 3rd, from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm nightly.

Light displays will be placed in Owen Sound’s downtown along 1st Ave E and W, between 8th and 9th, as well as along 1st Ave E between 7th St E and 8th Street E.  A wide variety of displays will also be arranged in Harrison Park, including the Infinity Tunnel, and the Winter Wonderland Walking Path.

This great event was already suited to social distancing as it takes place outside and families are encouraged to take in the sights while maintianing their own household bubbles.  Special consideration has been given to the layout this year to assist with physical distancing.  View a site map here.
