Pre-construction sales activity has begun at “Markdale Highlands“, the townhouse development set to be built on Grayview Drive, at the second hole of the Markdale Golf and Curling Club.
Original plans for Phase I called for 84 units to be built but that number has been reduced to 79 townhomes in an effort to allow for larger lot sizes and an increased green space. Townhouses will range in price from $389,000 to $499,000 and will include a trial membership at Markdale Golf & Curling Club. Most of the homes will be 2 bedroom “bungalofts” with 2 additional bedrooms on the partial second floor. Potential also exists to finish the basement in order to provide more bedroom or living space.
The developer, Sunfield, plans to begin construction as soon as weather permits and to build the homes block by block. The first 2 blocks will total 10 units including the Sales Office. It is hoped that demand will remain steady enough to allow for a fairly steady run of construction as over 1,000 potential buyers have already expressed an interest in the homes via online registration to receive more information about the project.
Phase II will see another 54 lots developed on lands near the Markdale OPP station. Each of these projects will connect new subdivisions with existing roads, eliminating dead ends to create better flow of traffic and easier access to these neighbourhoods for emergency responders.
