Fill A Shoe Box This Christmas

From The Blog

6 November 2019

If you’re looking for a way to help less fortunate children around the world this holiday season, the Royal LePage office in Flesherton has a suggestion: join us in filling some shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Operation Christmas Child is a program run by Samaritan’s Purse of Canada and is intended to be a hands-on way to help struggling children in the developing world by filling shoe boxes with useful small items that will brighten a child’s day.  Boxes are distributed internationally to children living in desperate situations.

What kinds of items could go in a shoe box?

School Supplies: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

Non-liquid Hygiene Items: toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, washcloths, etc.

Accessories: T-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights, etc.

Crafts: Make your own items such as hair bows, finger puppets, and friendship bracelets.

PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE: candy; toothpaste; used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns;, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.

If this sounds like something you would like to participate in, please drop by our office soon to pick up a box or two.  If you’d like to participate but don’t have the time to shop, cash donations will also be gratefully accepted, just speak to our receptionist Heather.

We are located at 20 Toronto Road, Flesherton – on the west side, just south of the lights at Hwy 10 and Grey Rd 4 – look for the large sign in front of the building.

Don’t wait too long, filled boxes must be returned to the Flesherton office before November 18th!
