The ROAD RACE is currently the only Canadian stop for the UGFWS qualifier events.  Consisting of 16 separate categories of riders competing in 8 distinct races, riders are classified into categories as determined by age according to UCI rules (see World Championship Qualification Criteria).  True to the UCI  Gran Fondo spirit, the purpose of this event is “to enable amateur cyclists to battle for a World Champion title at events with the finest organization in the world”.  All riders will be required to carry UCI licenses or race day road permits (available at registration), in adherence with the UCI’s aim to contribute to the international promotion of “Cycling for All”.

New this year is the MEDIO FONDO, a 75km race (for those who feel they aren’t ready for the full distance or just prefer a slightly easier pace) taking place on the same day as the Road Races, June 16th.  To keep things fun and challenging the Medio Fondo will have a timed KOM competition up the “Epping” climb, a well known segment in the area that is approximately half way through the course.
