We’re in the dog days of summer and thoughts are turning to “the most wonderful time of the year”…the return to school in September!
If you’re new to the area you may have some questions about registering your child for classes, what types of programming is available at different schools, transportation arrangements and a variety of other things. When my family first moved to the area 12 years ago we had all the same questions! You should be able to find answers to most of those questions by using the links in this post. If you can’t, let me know and I’ll do what I can to help you.

If your child is older than Kindergarten age, registration can be completed by contacting the Office Staff at the Public or Catholic school nearest you.
Looking for a copy of the Bluewater Board’s School Calendar? See the Elementary Calendar here or the Secondary Calendar here. Get your copy of the Bruce Grey Catholic Board’s Calendar (both Elementary and Secondary) here as well.
Not sure of the arrangements for the School Bus? If your child is already registered to start school in September you should receive a robo-call from your school bus service in late August outlining pick-up and drop-off times and locations, and providing recent news and updates. If not or if you still have questions, contact the Student Transportation Service Consortium of Grey Bruce at www.brucegreyschoolbus.ca. And do yourself a favour and sign up to receive notifications of delays and cancellations by clicking here and following the instructions provided. That way you’ll be notified as soon as there are changes to the bus schedule rather than having to wait to hear an announcement on local radio. Also consider signing little ones up for the First Rider Program so they know what to expect when the big day finally arrives. One of my favourite memories is taking the practice ride with my youngest daughter Kate just before she started Kindergarten…it made us both feel better about the prospect of her getting on the bus when she was so young!
